Volunteer
From Pro Bono Attorneys to seniors to college students, our volunteer base is full of individuals in the community helping to provide equal justice to those in need. In any of our three office locations, volunteers support full time staff in many different ways including filing, Spanish interpreting/translations, research, fundraising, community outreach, and other important tasks. Interested in the judicial system and what it is like to be a lawyer? Legal Aid Works® provides the opportunity to accompany and observe a real attorney in court!
If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out this application and send it via email, along with your resume, two references and a writing sample, to one of our three branches.
If you would like further information, email us or call (540) 371-1105 to discuss volunteer or internship opportunities.
Legal Aid Works® has a long standing relationship with the University of Mary Washington. Through this relationship, we have been able to provide students with internship opportunities. Students from a variety of different majors (sociology, pre-law, economics, business, Spanish, etc.) have interned to complete numerous projects to help them gain real world experience related to their field of study. Students looking for internship credits should contact UMW’s Career Services about participating in an internship at Legal Aid Works®.
What is it like to volunteer for Legal Aid Works®? Here is what one intern had to say and what a law clerk observed.
We thank you for your interest and look forward to hearing from you.
